Van der Waay has introduced its new Top Cleaner V, a product that replaces the Safety Cart. "The Top Cleaner V represents an important step towards greater safety, ease of use, and flexibility in cleaning and coating greenhouse roofs", the team says.
"Unlike its predecessor, the Top Cleaner V is fully autonomous: an operator is no longer needed to ride along with it. Since the machine only travels through one gutter, it can be used on greenhouses with various peak sizes. With the push of a button, the machine travels to the end of the greenhouse and then automatically returns while the water hose rolls up."
The Top Cleaner V is composed of various modules that can be fully customized to suit the grower's needs and working methods. Whether the task is brushing glass from ridge to gutter, applying coatings with precision, or cleaning the gutters, any configuration is possible. This flexibility makes the machine not only future-proof but also applicable to a variety of greenhouse environments.

The Top Cleaner V can be customized as desired, with a set of brushes for different peak sizes to ensure thorough cleaning, a gutter brush for efficient cleaning of greenhouse gutters, and a set of spray booms for precise application of coatings. It can also be equipped with a remote control for safe operation from the ground or a service platform, a service platform for safe and easy movement of the machine along the greenhouse façade, a high-pressure water pump for supplying water to the brushes, and a portable generator for autonomous power supply.
The Top Cleaner V can be placed on a service platform to make it easier to move from peak to peak, though a rail system on the façade is required for this. Safety and ease of maintenance have been prioritized: rotating parts are fully shielded, and the machine is easily accessible for servicing.
Key specifications include a 230 V power supply via a portable generator, continuously adjustable speed up to 20 m/min, a hose reel for approximately 200 meters of ½" hose, a maximum weight of 285 kg depending on configuration, and a wheelbase of 150 cm.
Competitively priced and designed for efficiency, the Top Cleaner V offers a short return on investment. It quickly pays for itself, as an extra 1% of light in the greenhouse translates directly to an extra 1% of production.
