Two St. Albert moms are boldly going where few have gone before with a new company that makes cannabis skin care products. Members of Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) toured the Cosmic Cannabis facility on Rowland Crescent Nov. 20 as part of the organization's Proudly Albertan campaign. AGLC is the provincial body that regulates cannabis sales and consumption in Alberta.
Cannabis is a $600 million a year industry in Alberta that brings in about $200 million in excise taxes to the province annually, said AGLC CEO Kandice Machado.
"There's a wide variety of cannabis products available on the market and a wide variety of them are made by Alberta producers," she said,
Machado said the AGLC launched its Proudly Alberta campaign last August to promote the 40-odd companies making cannabis products in Alberta. Any product that sports the Proudly Alberta label (which consists of an orange hexagon bearing a cannabis leaf, mountains, and the words "Proudly Alberta") has been certified as being made in or made and grown in Alberta.
