Another edition of MJBizCon has wrapped up in Las Vegas. For three days, the Las Vegas Convention Center once again became the meeting point for the international cannabis industry, drawing professionals from across the supply chain. Even in a more cautious market, and despite an edition with seemingly lower attendance than in the past, the show remained a place where operators compared notes, caught up with long time partners, and looked ahead at what the next year may bring.

When talking with exhibitors and people walking across the halls, the most common observation was that the expo floor felt smaller than in previous editions. Several attendees pointed out that there were fewer booths overall, with mainly the larger companies holding their ground. Many described the event as one where familiar faces find each other easily, but where meeting new clients is becoming more challenging. For some, MJBizCon now feels more like a reunion of people who have known one another for years, rather than a high traffic commercial floor.

A number of visitors also mentioned that the flow of attendees was lighter, and that quite a few people came to Las Vegas without purchasing expo passes at all. This did not stop them from enjoying the show, but it didn't take away the impression that the official footprint of the event has contracted. Others noted that the energy on the floor felt quieter, and some wondered whether the industry is growing tired of the long running Las Vegas setting.
At the same time, the conversations that did take place were focused and often centered on the themes that have shaped the industry this year. Operators continued to talk about efficiency, investment discipline, and the need for stronger fundamentals as the United States market matures. There was wide agreement that the era of easy capital is behind us, and that growth now depends on well run operations rather than rapid expansion. The discussions around hemp also reflected a sector that is still trying to understand a shifting regulatory landscape.

A few attendees remarked on stricter rules around consumption on site, including a stronger security presence around the smoking areas. This added to the general feeling that the event is changing, and that some of the most familiar parts of the experience have been reshaped. A couple of visitors even joked that more networking happened in hotel suites around the Strip than on the show floor itself.

The curated side events continued to draw strong crowds, and the exhibitors who were present kept steady conversations throughout the week. Many still see the show as a central gathering point, even if its role in the industry may be shifting. With the show now behind us and everyone back home, it is time to look at the people and companies who made up this year's edition. In other words, enjoy our photo report of the event!
