The Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division has issued its first recall of 2026, with the latest health and safety notice hitting nineteen dispensaries across the state. According to a January 8 recall order from the MED, four harvest batches of cannabis from the wholesale cultivation Rotation LLC, which does business as Rotation Farms, are being recalled after investigators discovered they contained the banned pesticide chlorfenapyr. Another five harvest batches are being recalled because they were grown around the same time, the MED adds.
The MED says the four batches contaminated with chlorfenapyr initially passed testing, "but were later subjected to additional testing and found to exceed regulatory limits."
Rotation Farms collaborated with the state to initiate the voluntary recall, the MED notes.
Chlorfenapyr is an insecticide that kills mites and other bugs by disrupting energy in their cells. It is approved for application on cotton and ornamental plants by the Environmental Protection Agency, but chlorfenapyr is federally banned from being used on food crops, as the chemical is considered toxic to humans and can be fatal when ingested.
