The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Cannabis Regulatory Commission has announced the opening of an application window for Cannabis Business Indoor Cultivation Licenses.
The application window will open on January 20, 2026, and close on February 20, 2026. All applications must be submitted no later than 3:59 p.m. local time on February 20, 2026. Applications received after the submission deadline will not be considered.
This application window is limited to indoor cannabis cultivation only. Outdoor cultivation is not permitted at this time. All cultivation facilities must be located on the Leech Lake Reservation. Cultivation may not occur in a residential dwelling or within twenty-five (25) feet of a residential dwelling.
Eligibility for licensure is limited to individual Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Citizens, entities formed under the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Business Corporation Code that are 100 percent owned by Band Citizens, and tribal enterprises. No licenses will be granted to applicants that are not Band-owned.
During this application round, the Commission intends to award up to five (5) Indoor Cannabis Cultivation Licenses. Additional application periods will be announced in the future. Applicants not selected during this round may be placed on a waitlist for consideration in subsequent rounds or if a selected applicant is unable to operationalize their license.
To be considered, applicants must submit a complete application. A complete application includes the fully completed Indoor Cannabis Cultivation License Application, all required exhibits and supporting documentation, and a non-refundable application fee of $1,000 that must be paid and receipted prior to the submission deadline. Incomplete or partial applications will not be considered.
