US (MN): Indoor cannabis cultivation facility approved for Glencoe area

A new indoor cannabis cultivation facility will be coming to the Glencoe area following approval by the McLeod County Board of Commissioners, marking another step in the county's rollout of Minnesota's regulated cannabis industry.

The operation will focus exclusively on growing cannabis flower indoors, with no on-site processing, manufacturing, or retail sales. At the request of the facility's owners, neither the specific address nor the owners' names are being published in this article.

The facility will operate within an existing agricultural building in Helen Township and will include secure, controlled growing areas designed to meet Minnesota's regulatory standards. Crops will be harvested and dried on site before being transported to licensed processing and testing facilities in the Twin Cities metro area. No signage will be installed at the property, and security measures will include a gated driveway and camera monitoring.

County officials noted the proposal had been reviewed at multiple levels prior to board action. The Helen Township Board reviewed the request in August 2025 and recommended approval, followed by a public hearing before the McLeod County Planning Advisory Committee in September 2025. The planning committee unanimously supported the project with conditions addressing staffing limits, odor control, wastewater handling, and regulatory compliance.
