The City of Fort St. John council has decided to support a retail store licence for a local cannabis store looking to move locations. During its January 26th meeting, the council voted unanimously to support an application by Cannabis Corner to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch for a cannabis retail store licence.
The store, currently located at 10108 100th Street, is seeking to relocate to 10115 100th Street. Both locations are in what the city considers 'C-2', or the 'downtown commercial zone.'
A report submitted to the council by staff detailed the various avenues the city explored to collect feedback from residents and gauge the store's possible impact on the municipality. According to staff, there are no concerns with the building inspection, fire department and public safety.
The city also sought the opinions of residents within a 0.8-kilometer radius of the establishment by posting a public notice, giving individuals an opportunity to voice their comments on the application starting December 2025. Comments were accepted up until January 23rd, 2026, and staff reported none were received.
