US (OK): Pushback arrives on Governors attempt to shut down state medical cannabis industry

Oklahomans are pushing back against Governor Kevin Stitt's calls to shut down the state's medical cannabis industry. Members of the Sooner State Party have shared their concerns about the Governors surprise U-Turn on what he termed a "bill of goods."

One member of the party called the Governor's words a "spit in the face", while another stated that it would be preferable to improve upon current legislation instead of attempt to recriminalize medical cannabis.

Meanwhile, other Oklahoman officials also pushed back against the idea, including the state's Attorney General Gentner Drummond, who said that removing medical cannabis could prove costly for the state.

"We would need to reimburse the individuals (who are already deeply embedded in the medical cannabis industry), because it would essentially be a taking," he said.

Other experts were quick to point out that the state would be on the hook for billions of dollars of lost income for growers and dispensaries.
