Inside a former tire warehouse in northwest Rochester, technician crews from contracting firms across the region are preparing what its developers say will be Minnesota's most advanced cultivation and processing facilities for recreational cannabis. The venture is led by 35-year-old president and CEO Jordan Kilian, who said the project was financed through one "giant capital raise." Kilian also owns multiple auto center repair shops across the city.
"All locally raised," Kilian said. "At my age, to be able to own something this big, do that much, and give back so much, it's absolutely insane."
The Rochester native purchased the warehouse for about $4 million in October and the renovating began quickly after, to make it capable of handling multiple stages of cannabis production under one roof.
"Our operation here is a 50,000-square-foot cultivation facility," Kilian said during a recent tour of the building. "Our flowering capacity here is at 15,000 square feet. The rest of our facility is made up of a post-harvest area, packaging, and we'll do white-label servicing here."
