New York State lawmakers have introduced a bill that would allow liquor stores to sell low-THC cannabis drinks, amid growing interest in cannabis drinks.
Democratic Sen. Jeremy Cooney and Assemblyman John Zaccaro have recently introduced companion legislation in the Senate and Assembly to allow licensed liquor and wine stores to sell low-potency cannabis beverages.
The bill would allow retail permits for single-use drinks containing up to 5 milligrams of THC, produced by New York adult-use cannabis licensees, and directs related tax revenue to the state's cannabis revenue fund.
The measure would open a new lane for liquor stores to sell low-dose cannabis beverages, layering in new taxes and spelling out how the revenue would be used, and amount to an expansion of New York's adult-use market.
