Jake Houweling, formerly with Philips Horticulture LED Solutions in Leamington, is joining Source.ag, signaling a new chapter in his career within the greenhouse industry.
He has spent several years working closely with growers in Leamington, participating in the adoption of LED technology in commercial horticulture. During his time at Philips, he focused on building relationships with growers and supporting the integration of LED lighting solutions.
Reflecting on his experience, Jake noted the impact of both his professional environment and personal influences. He highlighted the role of Philips Horticulture LED Solutions in providing opportunities for growth and development, as well as the lessons learned from his father, Ray Houweling, on integrity, honesty, and relationship-building.
In his new role at Source.ag, Houweling will focus on helping growers navigate artificial intelligence applications in horticulture. "AI is no longer a future concept—it's actively reshaping how modern agriculture operates," he said. He emphasized the importance of understanding both the capabilities and limitations of AI tools in supporting cultivation decisions.
Source.ag is recognized for its grower-first approach, helping teams align cultivation practices with commercial objectives and make informed decisions using AI responsibly. Houweling described the company as "already making an impact" and expects its role in the industry to expand.
He stated that his move to Source.ag does not mark an end to his relationship with Philips. "This isn't goodbye—it's simply the next chapter," he said, expressing gratitude for his experiences and looking forward to future collaboration opportunities.
