The St. Cloud City Council approved a rezoning request Monday night that could pave the way for a cannabis cultivation and processing facility in the city's industrial park near Apollo High School.
The property at 14 and 16 McLeland Road will return to I3 Planned Industrial zoning from C5 Commercial, reversing a change made in 2025. The vote was unanimous and no one spoke against the proposed rezoning during a public hearing.
The rezoning itself doesn't approve any specific business; it simply restores the industrial designation to the 6-acre site. The planning commission had previously approved the plan in February.
The commercial zoning was originally put in place for a go kart track and entertainment center planned for the lot, but that project never came to fruition, prompting the request to revert the property back to its prior industrial designation. Trantina Properties requested the change with the intent of turning the property over to Grow One, LLC, which would potentially operate a cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility in the former Fingerhut/CompuCredit call center building.
