US (MA): Dudley pot dispensary faces CCC discipline after whistleblower complaint

The state's Cannabis Control Commission is poised to act against the owners of a Dudley marijuana dispensary, three years after a whistleblower alleged that it was dispensing product harvested from an illegal grow center in a Webster rental home.

In a written statement issued Tuesday, March 31, a spokesperson for the state's Cannabis Control Commission said "the Commission's investigation into this matter has progressed to a pending enforcement action and, as such, the agency cannot comment further at this time."

The agency move may include a fine or other penalties. Any conclusion will be reported on the agency's website, according to the state. The CCC was alerted to the situation at Greatest Hits, a music-themed cannabis dispensary located on Chase Avenue, in 2023 by former employee-turned-whistleblower Matt Dunkum. It has taken the agency until now to address the issue

Hired as a bud tender and promoted to manage the marketing arm of the company, Dunkum was alerted to the irregularities when he was invited to help tend the plants growing in the basement of a Webster home. The house, on Black Point Road, had been rented, ostensibly as a home for one of the owners and his family.
