Marketing Department Manager

Sakata Ornamentals is looking for a dynamic and experienced Marketing Department Manager to drive the development and execution of impactful marketing strategies that support brand positioning, visibility, and revenue growth. This role requires both strategic and hands-on capabilities and strong leadership of the marketing team.

This role includes developing, coordinating, and executing marketing communication plans, public relations activities, and events aligned with our Ornamentals strategy.

The marketing department plays a crucial role in the company’s success through several key functions. These include detailed marketing planning to ensure strategic alignment with business goals, image and photography coordination to maintain a consistent and appealing brand presentation, and product marketing to effectively promote new and existing products to the target audience. Website management is also essential to maintain an engaging and user-friendly online presence. Lastly, the department provides customer support related to marketing, ensuring all inquiries and issues are handled promptly and professionally.

Marketing Department Manager

Preferably Full-Time  -  Location: Hoofddorp  -  Start Date: Immediately or by agreement


Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing Communication: Develop and implement marketing communication strategies, including PR and event management.
  • Strategic Marketing Planning: Identify target audiences within defined markets and develop strategies to communicate effectively with them.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage marketing plans and associated budgets.
  • Event Management: Plan and execute trade shows, exhibitions, and internal meetings.
  • Team Management: Lead, manage, and participate in the marketing department, currently a small team of 2.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends.

You have a solid understanding of branding and a wide range of marketing techniques, especially in the horticultural sector. Your communication skills are polished, including writing press/social media releases and delivering presentations at all levels.

Time management skills are crucial to manage projects and achieve goals efficiently. You actively seek and understand input from others to ensure broad alignment, demonstrating strong listening and influencing skills. Maintaining discretion and confidentiality, especially regarding proprietary knowledge, is essential.


Your Profile

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Affinity with horticulture and, of course, a love for flowers!
  • Working knowledge of graphic programs like Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign to manage and monitor graphic suppliers.
  • Bachelor-level competence and mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills at all business levels.
  • Ability to set and monitor the right priorities.
  • Analytical, strategic, and creative thinker, capable of thinking outside the box.
  • Experience with online promotion.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; design talent/experience is a plus.
  • Confident and capable presenter in both English and Dutch.
