Building a new greenhouse requires a lot of thinking and making the right choices. Which technology do you put in the greenhouse and which not? One or two screens, LED or not? Technology is expensive and it would be a shame if the technology you purchased has not the optimum return on investment you were hoping for. The Agrithermic tool, called Hortinergy, can help with this.
With this software, the company was in the race for the Greentech Innovation award in the Sustainability category. This meant a lot of attention for the tool that has been on the market for some time but was recently further developed with climate modeling.
"Nobody knows which greenhouse design is the best. Every location, cultivation and even grower requires a different design. This tool helps growers and greenhouse builders to make the right choices," explains Vincent Stauffer of Agrithermic.
“Even before construction started, we have, by taking into account the GPS location of the side, with the local climate and locally occurring pests and diseases, the green equipment and the crop type, calculated how much sunlight there is throughout the year and how much LED power there is required. This way the tool makes the best combination of solar light and artificial light.
The cannabis market has a lot of potential for Hortinergy.
Although the tool works like a brilliant mathematician, you do not have to be an engineer or economist to work with it. "That is probably our main challenge, to make software that is easy to use for everyone."
