US (MD): Cannabis facility pitched to Salisbury selectmen

Two local contractors propose building a large-scale marijuana cultivation and manufacturing facility that could employ up to 45 workers near the New Hampshire border.

The proposed facility would be at 187 Lafayette Road. Newburyport-based developer George Haseltine is the listed manager of 187 Lafayette Road LLC and gave selectmen a presentation about the proposed business, which would be named Root and Bloom, at their meeting June 24.

Haseltine said he spoke on behalf of himself and his partner, Amesbury-based developer Brad Kutcher. “This is a locally owned and controlled company poised to become a fully vertically integrated cannabis cultivator, manufacturer and retailer in the North Shore/Merrimack Valley marketplace,” Haseltine said.

He said he and Kutcher hope to build a “state-of-the-art, 20,000-square-foot facility” to grow and manufacture “high-quality cannabis oils and edibles for medical and recreational markets.”

Haseltine said he and his wife and children live in Newburyport, where he owns the residential general contracting firm Windward Shaw LLC.

“I have 12 years of experience in business and am known for craftsmanship and green building practices,” he said.
