US (CA): Lab secures $22M for new vape testing

Cannalysis, a state-licensed cannabis testing facility in California, has raised $22.6 million to fund a new test for vaping additives.

The new funds will also go towards the lab’s multi-state expansion and the creation of automated testing systems.

Cannalysis introduces new vape product testing method
One of Cannalysis’ new cutting-edge innovations is a testing device able to detect and quantify the levels of vitamin E acetate present in a vape product.

“We were getting a lot of phone calls from people interested in the vitamin E acetate issue. We don’t even know if this is the culprit [behind the vape illness] yet, but we reacted very quickly to it because people were concerned,” Dr Swetha Kaul, the chief scientific officer at Cannalysis, explained to Analytical Cannabis.
