UK: License granted to grow cannabis in Somerset

The Home Office has granted a Westcountry company a licence to grow cannabis for medical tests.

Sativa Cultivation and Extraction Ltd, based in Frome, Somerset, has been awarded a Controlled Drug licence for cannabis cultivation, production, possession and supply by the UK Home Office.

The licence allows Sativa to grow cannabis with a high THC content - the compound responsible for the narcotic effect.

SCE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sativa Group Plc, the UK's leading quoted CBD wellness and medicinal cannabis group.

The licence will allow Sativa to start a research partnership agreement with King's College London to research the impact of cannabinoids on inflammation and respiratory conditions.
