Aurora Cannabis buys Safari Flower Company in $26.5M deal

Canadian cannabis company Aurora Cannabis has purchased Safari Flower Company, a licensed cannabis grower and producer that holds EU GMP certification. The total deal is valued at approximately $26.5 million. As part of the transaction, Aurora paid $15 million in cash and issued around 2.4 million of its own shares to the seller. An additional $2 million cash payment may follow, depending on certain conditions being met.

Safari Flower Company operates a purpose-built, 59,000 square foot indoor growing and production facility in Ontario, Canada. Crucially, the site already holds EU GMP certification, meaning Aurora can use it relatively quickly to grow and process cannabis flower that meets the strict quality requirements of its key export markets — Germany, Australia, Poland, and the UK.

The added production capacity is designed to slot in alongside Aurora's existing facilities, rather than replace them, helping the company meet growing international demand without starting from scratch.

"The acquisition of Safari Flower Company marks an important milestone for Aurora as we continue to purposefully invest in expanding our EU GMP capacity to support the rapidly growing international medical cannabis market. We intend to leverage our extensive plant science and operational expertise to increase the supply of high quality, EU GMP manufactured flower that further enhances our leadership in these expanding, high margin and highly regulated markets. An enhanced supply chain will enable us to capture greater international market share while delivering superior quality and value to our most respected patients worldwide," said Miguel Martin, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Aurora.

The company expects the acquisition to begin contributing positively to its adjusted earnings (EBITDA) in its 2027 financial year, with further improvements in 2028 and beyond as the new facility is fully integrated into Aurora's supply chain.
