Ground has broken on a new cannabis cultivation facility on Nipissing First Nation.
Located near the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 17B, Golden Harvest Organics Inc. began construction on its 30,000-square-foot facility Feb. 10
In the works for two-and-a-half years, Golden Harvest Organics was founded by Natalie Payette-Chevrier with the goal of becoming one of the first Health Canada-regulated wholesale cannabis producers on federal land.
The company is expected to hire as many as 80 or more people once established and is planning to begin accepting applications for certain positions by mid-summer, with the aim of starting production by January 2021.
“It’s exciting. It’s very challenging and it’s a little overwhelming at the same time,” Payette-Chevrier said.
