US (CA): Winds bring down hot power line near Carpinteria greenhouses

A live power line in Carpinteria sparked a small fire Monday afternoon that was quickly brought under control.

The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District arrived at the scene to find two sections of the wire blowing in the wind near 6200 Foothill Rd. near Casitas Pass Road.

Employees of a greenhouse cannabis operation nearby were evacuated to the street for safety.

A smoldering fire in the light landscaping and vegetation was whipped up by winds but doused by firefighters once the power line was turned off.
