Michigan has had legal recreational cannabis for about two years, and business is booming. In 2020 alone, sales reached $500 million.
WSBT 22's Katlin Connin went to Fello Cannabis in Galien to see what it takes to grow all that cannabis. Growing cannabis is a lot different from growing a houseplant. The staff at Fello Cannabis in Galien say they're trying to create pharmaceutical-grade product.
The drying room is a stoner's dizzy daydream. There are hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of pot there. But all that bud has much humbler beginning, in little trays.
Vinkavich is the Director of Cultivation at Fello Cannabis. He says seeds can be unreliable if you're trying to get a lot of the same type of cannabis plant.
“So rather than seed-grown crops, this is clipped from an already grown plant, so it’s a genetic replica. So in that sense, we’re able to provide consistency."
