US (TN): A Dickson-based MMJ grower to expand in different states

Dickson-based Good Day Farm owner Eric Thornton is expanding his cannabis operation. However, the growth is not in his home state of Tennessee.

Thornton, and his partners, have looked to surrounding Southeastern states where medical cannabis has been legalized. Last month, Good Day Farm Arkansas broke ground on the site of a planned nearly 100,000-square-foot, $32 million facility in Pine Bluff, Ark., which Thornton expects to employ 200 people.

The next Good Day Farm medical cannabis operations will be in Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia, Thornton said. Thornton and his partners recently purchased a 117,000-square-foot facility for cultivation in Oxford, Miss. which will include an initial $26 million investment, he said. Thornton said his group has a Louisiana medical cannabis license and partnership with Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La.

“When Good Day Farm decided to start growing hemp in 2019, my son and I decided to monitor ongoing efforts by the Southeastern states to enact medical cannabis laws and programs,” said Thornton, whose son is Chase Thornton.
