AR: Río Negro and INTA to join forces to grow medical cannabis

The government of Río Negro, together with the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), began to outline the joint work for the cultivation of cannabis for medicinal purposes in the province, they officially reported today.

The general idea of ​​the project is that the cultivation is carried out on the INTA property, in Guerrico, in the Upper Rio Negro Valley, and the extraction is carried out using a standardized method.

The meeting, headed by Governor Arabela Carreras, outlined the participation of the local govt in this project, which is being developed by INTA with the non-profit association Ciencia Sativa.

In this regard, Marné Livigni, the general manager of the company from Rio Negro Profirse (SE Pharmaceutical Production), remarked that "the governor gave her the go-ahead to support this great initiative."

The legislator of the provincial government, Lucas Pica, a supporter of the use of medicinal cannabis said that “we are on the verge of a great paradigm shift since medicinal cannabis is the hope for many and this thanks to the political decision of the national government, accompanied by the provincial government ”.

"The province is preparing for what is to come, and that is why the Legislature has accompanied it with laws and regulations for the times to come," the official remarked.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Production and Agroindustry of Río Negro, Carlos Banacloy; and the Secretary of Fruit Growing, Facundo Fernández.
