US (MA): Cannabis farmers market coming to Worcester

A new type of farmers market is coming to Worcester, and this one won’t be selling corn, squash and the usual craft items. Medical and adult-use cannabis will be the big sellers.  Billed as a “Cannabis Community Farmers Market,” it is noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Resinate Inc., a medical and adult-use cannabis dispensary located at 1191 Millbury St.

Peter DeCaro, a Millbury resident and Resinate's founder and chief executive officer, said some cannabis companies have joined forces in the past to hold a similar event, but the one planned in Worcester is the first “legal” farmers market of its kind that DeCaro said he has seen.

A combination sales/education event is how DeCaro described the farmers market. Visitors can speak with representatives from his company – and three others – to learn how cannabis products are made and regulated.

“We’re going to build a farmers market atmosphere,” DeCaro said. “A lot of people don’t understand the products they try to take for different ailments, and how to grow (cannabis products) on their own. We hope to provide a lot of those answers on that day."
