US (NJ): Long Branch approves cannabis zones and license classes

The city of Long Branch approved several cannabis zones and all six marketplace classes of cannabis licenses at the City Council meeting on December 8th. The licenses are for a cannabis cultivator, manufacturer, wholesaler, distributor, retailer, and delivery. The city will allow just one of each license.

The city will permit all six marketplace licenses in both its industrial zone as well as its manufacturer and business zones. The city also established a 2% sales tax on retail sales and a 1% sales tax on wholesale sales.

It will be some time before any cannabis businesses are set up in the city, or any municipality for that matter, as the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission has not started accepting applications for the adult-use cannabis industry yet. That process will begin rolling out on December 15th.
