US (MA): How automation increased new facility’s production by four times

“Whenever I want to improve a strain or grow more of it, this costs money and takes new tools and technology. When I have to bring in massive pieces of machinery or need something to improve our labor, it is great to have a company who can help us,” says Christian Briggs, Director of Cultivation at Ocean Breeze Cultivators. The new cannabis facility in Massachusetts worked with Abel Womack to install the latest technology and automation.

Throughout the build of the facility, Ocean Breeze realized that space was going to be an issue. “Therefore, we are using the GreenRak system in the vegetation room, which takes all the hard work out of it for us. We now don’t need to move the plants, we can easily move the entire bench around by just turning the wheel. In addition, we can get twice the amount of plants in half the amount of room.”

According to Briggs, the packaging process was another challenge. “The job requires long days and it is rough on your neck. Fortunately, we are now using the Green Vault system. You can tell the machine the bud size we are trying to make and the amount. The machine then weighs out that amount and sends it down to the conveyor belt. Because of this, we were able to increase our production by four times over.”
