Last week, the chopper flew over at Great Northern Hydroponics in Ontario, Canada. After this flight, the greenhouse was ready for summer, as the helicopter coated the greenhouse.
"The use of a helicopter or aircraft is a cost-effective method of coating large areas of greenhouse deck within a short period of time. The result depends on the knowledge and experience of the pilot. The quality and maintenance level of the technical equipment is also decisive", says Bas Moeskops with Lumiforte.
Droplet pattern
According to Bas, the choice for aerial application can be very rational. "It is fast so that windows do not have to remain closed for a long time; this is an important advantage in a hot climate. In addition, the costs are relatively low."
Compared to machine coating, however, the quality is not as good. "This is because a droplet pattern is created instead of an even layer. But that doesn't have to be a problem", says Bas.
"With our ReduSol coating, this is often good enough. However, the effect of diffuse coatings or products that filter light colors will be less with a droplet pattern compared to an even layer. In order to achieve an even layer without the layer becoming too thick, the pilot must fly up and down more frequently."
