US: Owner of world's largest dispensary to build 63,000 sq ft cultivation facility

Planet 13, a cannabis company that owns the world’s largest dispensary in Las Vegas, has big expansion plans for Florida, which will be fueled by its new cultivation facility in south Marion County.

The company recently closed on 23 acres in Summerfield, where it will build a 63,000-square-foot building that will supply at least 13 dispensaries planned throughout the state.

The news comes on the heels of the company’s recent announcement of a medical cannabis dispensary in Ocala, but there are even bigger plans in the future if recreational cannabis is legalized in Florida.

The world-class cultivation facility being built in Summerfield will be located next to the Oxford Downs poker room and horse track just west of U.S. 301 at the Marion-Sumter County line. Planet 13 purchased the property for $3.3 million from Jacks Over Nines, owned by Tony Mendola, who is president and owner of Oxford Downs.
