Poland: "Despite increasing electricity prices, we decided to broaden our operations"

An indoor hemp farm from Konopnica, a village on the outskirts of Lublin, started its adventure in 2020 by purchasing old used shipping containers and then adjusting them to become a home for hundreds of plants. Green Jungle started with just a single 40ft HC container. Today, the farm is made of 8 shipping containers and newly erected buildings of 360 m2. All designed to master the environment inside.

Expansion
Despite increasing electricity prices, Green Jungle decided to broaden its operations and equipped a new building to host 1200 plants per cycle. Their idea is to use photovoltaic installation and high-efficiency LED lighting to minimize the impact of high electricity bills.

As the ultimate goal is to provide high-quality flowers, both the container farm and the new building are equipped with precise controllers and sensors connected to a climate computer to take care of the climate and root zones. Also, the new farm will have additional features such as a mobile UV-C lighting system over the canopy, LED grow lamps on up and down construction to optimize electricity use, and an oxygen nanobubble system to enhance the oxygen level in the root zone.

"Poland is a really big market (40 million inhabitants) with a growing amount of hemp consumers. People like to experiment with new products, taste new flavors, and choose quality products. And this is our goal – improve quality as much as we can and release new products once we are happy with the quality," the team says.

Winning prizes
In Poland, there are two big hemp-related events: Kanaba Fest (Katowice) and Weed Fest (Warsaw). For the first time, they organized hemp cups – a competition for the best CBD flowers in Poland.
Green Jungle sent its CBD-rich dry flowers for both of them. At Kanaba Fest, Green Jungle's CBD flower under the name Monkito took 1st place. At Weed Fest, Green Jungle made an even better score, and Monkito once again was chosen as the number one, with second place going to another dry CBD flower from Green Jungle – this time Peacock Dolla.

"We are more than happy to score so high with our Monkito CBD flowers. In our opinion, it outclasses other flowers due to its terpene profile – 1,4% in a dry mass," the team says.
