GrowerIQ has successfully completed its latest funding round, securing CAD $1,080,000 from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). "The fact that we are being supported by the government this way is exciting for both us as a company and the cannabis industry," says Andrew Wilson, CEO of GrowerIQ. "This investment will allow us to further develop our technology and expand our global footprint. We are committed to providing cannabis producers with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive market."

15 countries
GrowerIQ's mission is to improve the management of cannabis production facilities worldwide by providing a robust and integrated solution. "Our platform is the operational backbone that allows highly regulated cannabis companies to pull together fragmented systems, digitize operations, and scale profitably. What is unique about our platform is that it was not originally developed with a specific local jurisdiction in mind. From the start, we wanted our platform to help companies globally. Currently, we're already in 15 countries, and we're looking to expand that footprint as new jurisdictions open up," Andrew says.
Andrew explains that their platform was designed in conjunction with a cannabis master grower who had a lot of experience in the Canadian industry. "Many other platforms are originally designed for the food industry, for example, and are then adapted to cannabis. Yet cannabis operators have very unique issues to worry about and track. For example, you don't have to track every single gram of tomato that you grow or worry about tomato plants being stolen. We've incorporated all those differences into the platform from the start. With the help of an experienced master grower, the platform is very intuitive to use for cannabis operators."
Barbados
GrowerIQ also recently announced an exclusive contract with the Government of Barbados to manage all cannabis production on the island. "It's a very new industry. They're now in the process of starting things up and want to do it in the right way. The Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) is an incredibly advanced regulatory body with a clear vision for the future of the medicinal cannabis industry in Barbados. It's going to be wonderful to see what they put together," Andrew says.
