Australian cannabis production, export and import increased in 2022

The Office of Drug Control (ODC) has published data on the import, export, production, and stock of the Australian cannabis industry, comparing 2021 to 2022.

Imports
Imports increased significantly last year, with a total of 24,887 kilograms of cannabis imported in 2022, compared to 7,173 kilograms in 2021. The top 3 countries importing into Australia in 2022 were Canada (21,201 kg), Denmark (868 kg), and Germany (858 kg).

Exports
The total quantity of cannabis exported out of Australia slightly increased as well, from 1,426 kg in 2021 to 1,510 kg in 2022. Australia has exported cannabis to 4 countries in 2022: Germany (935 kg), United Kingdom (407 kg), New Zealand (167 kg), and France (1 kg).

The total amount of cannabis produced in Australia also saw an increase: from 16,700 kg in 2021 to 24,900 kg in 2022.
