A look at how cannabis products are manufactured

It's been nearly two years since recreational cannabis was legalized in Missouri, and business is thriving. There are several companies in mid-Missouri growing cannabis and making products for consumption.

But how does this process from plant to product happen? "Here you can see 'veg plants' which will be taken as cuttings," Diana Coats, said. Coats is the vice president of operations at Good Day Farm in Columbia.

Cannabis plants are hearty and can survive in many different kinds of stressful environments, but the operations here are strictly controlled, even down to the plant's genetics.

"Quality control is designed at every step of the processing and manufacturing system," Coats said. "In our clone stage, you can see all of these plants will have a little blue tag with a barcode. Each plant is represented within the state's tracking system called Metrc."
