CAN: 86,000 sq.ft. indoor grow implements AI to automate cultivation

Purplefarm is partnering with Neatleaf to automate and optimize its cultivation processes. The implementation began in March 2024 at Purplefarm's 86,000 sq. ft facility in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

The Neatleaf Spyder is an autonomous robotic platform that utilizes a cable-based system to scan indoor cultivation crops. It generates millions of data points, monitoring plant height, health, and pest infestations in 24-hour cycles. This real-time, actionable data provides invaluable insights for Purplefarm's operations. On the expansion into Canada and the partnership with Purplefarm, Neatleaf CEO Elmar Mair stated, "Expanding into New Brunswick with a respected name like Purplefarm is why we built Neatleaf. It's thrilling to see this collaboration come to life. Providing precise and actionable data to help streamline production and improve efficiencies and output quality is incredibly rewarding. And this is just the beginning!"

For Purplefarm, partnering with Neatleaf was an obvious choice. Founder Mitchell Alswiti remarked, "Integrating Neatleaf's Spyder system has elevated our cultivation to new heights of consistency, reflecting our commitment to innovation. Our yields have increased, showcasing our dedication to advancing craft cultivation. The 24/7 oversight provided by the Spyder system has become a cornerstone of our risk management, allowing us to detect pests, diseases, and viroids early, ensuring minimal disruptions. This technology enables us to focus on producing the best flower for our partners."

This partnership sets Purplefarm on an upward trajectory, with plans to expand across its affiliated sites both domestically and internationally. The integration of machine learning technology positions Purplefarm to secure vital margins in the competitive cannabis industry, propelling the company into the future.
