Positive vibes on first day of ICBC 2025

It's a sunny day in Berlin, and one may even argue that this is a sign of the current state of the European cannabis industry that is flexing its muscles at the ICBC 2025. Growers and suppliers from all over the world are gathering at the Estrel Berlin Hotel for Europe's largest cannabis B2B event.

The air is bustling with excitement about a cannabis market that is projected to grow in the near future. Last year, the show took place just a couple of weeks after German legalized adult-use cannabis, anticipation spread like a wildfire amongst attendees. With this year's edition, as new clubs are setting up shop in Germany, the first effects of that legalization are finally materializing. Make no mistake, though, we are still in Europe, and this is still cannabis. Things move slow, but everyone is used to this pace in the industry. This year's edition spans across two halls - like it was two years ago, though this year's hall 1 is much smaller than back then.

Something special about this year's edition is that in addition to well-known suppliers as Fluence, BeGrow and Royal Queen Seeds, the presence of a growing number of growers at the show – both visiting and with a booth. As sales are increasing, and are expected to increase on the medical side, many are trying to gain a good chunk of the market share. This obviously is mainly with regards to the medical sales. The legislation from April 2024 did not only legalize adult-use, but made it much easier to access medical cannabis, the effect of which can be seen in the staggering increase in import numbers.

This is it for our impression of the first day of the ICBC 2025 in Berlin. Stay tuned for tomorrow's update, which is also the last day of the show, and obviously for our photo report. Lots of smiley faces to see there, a trademark of the cannabis space.
