Cannabis delivery startup announces aid for growers affected by Hurricane Melissa

Cannabis delivery platform Upling has announced a comprehensive relief initiative to support local farms, growers and the entire Jamaica cannabis industry, whose livelihoods have been devastated by recent flooding across the island. This initiative is in collaboration with Canex Jamaica and Cookies Jamaica.

"Our local growers are the backbone of Jamaica's agriculture industry," said Colin Fraser, CEO of Upling. "These aren't just statistics – these are families, communities, and generations of agricultural knowledge at risk. When disaster strikes, we don't stand aside. We stand together."

The relief effort will channel support through Grass to Grace, a dedicated non-profit organization committed to ensuring aid reaches those who need it most through transparent and accountable distribution channels.

Initiative details
Monetary Support: $50,000 in direct financial assistance to affected growers for immediate needs and crop recovery. Agricultural Resources such as supplies, seeds, and equipment to help farmers restart cultivation will also be given to growers.

The Rural Agriculture Development Authority (RADA) estimated that 45,000 farmers were affected with the cost of damage estimated at around $15.9 million The damage was especially extensive in rural parts of Jamaica, where banana and coconut farms were severely damaged

Canex has played an important role in the health and wellness of farmers bringing education to the community, while Cookies Jamaica launched this year and giving back to the community has been one of its main priorities

"Canex Jamaica and Cookies Jamaica have been instrumental partners in this mission," Colin said. "Together, we're proving that when industry leaders unite with purpose, real change happens. This isn't about business – it's about people, about preserving Jamaica's agricultural heritage, and about ensuring that when our farmers fall, we're there to lift them up."

The community can contribute to relief efforts through Grass to Grace's verified donation channels, which can be found From Grass to Grace. All contributions will be directly allocated to affected growers, with full transparency in distribution and impact reporting.
