ICBC 2026 Berlin kicks off with Germany still at the top of EU medical cannabis

The International Cannabis Business Conference opened its doors in Berlin this morning, and the first hours on the show floor told a familiar story. A quiet start, with foot traffic picking up steadily as the day wore on. It is a pattern anyone who has attended a trade show will recognize, and ICBC is no different, with the second day typically drawing the biggest crowds. At the same, attendees seem to be spending more time in the hotel lobby than walking the exhibition hall. It will be interesting to see if tomorrow indeed falls in line with the tradition of increased traffic, or if today was ICBC Berlin's peak for this edition.

The conversations happening across the booths, though, are anything but routine. Germany remains the undisputed center of gravity for the European cannabis market, and its regulatory trajectory is on everyone's lips. Whether the country will keep moving forward, and at what pace, is the defining question of the moment. "Regulation is the single most decisive factor," one attendee said, and there is broad agreement that the way Germany develops its framework in the coming months will shape which markets emerge as the next dominant hubs.

Denmark is increasingly part of that conversation. Its properly regulated licensing framework and EU-GMP compliance have built a reputation for reliability, with European buyers taking notice as the country steadily gains ground as an alternative supply source.

With regards to pricing, the mood is cautiously stable. While competition has pushed prices down sharply over recent years, supply is now tightening, which is putting a floor under rates. The expectation among market players is that if more countries align with Germany's regulatory approach, stability will follow across the board.
