The importance of air circulation
”The lack of proper air circulation could result in pest outbreaks, for instance,” he explains. ”One of the major risks is powdery mildew. Oftentimes, growers find themselves fighting against this insidious enemy that could compromise the entirety of their crops.” In the medical cannabis industry, fighting pathogens is a very big issue, especially considering the limitations in terms of allowed pesticides.” Medical cannabis growers do not have many weapons to counter this sort of pests. By providing proper air circulation to cannabis plants, it is possible to prevent powdery mildew from occurring, thus avoiding the risk for the product to be recalled.”
A labor-saving system
According to Jacob, these innovative irrigation trays re-use all the water, thus saving labor and granting the same amount of water to all the plants on the tray. ”Compared to gutter systems, these irrigation trays are easier to use, in terms of cleaning processes and maintenance for instance, as there is no “hidden corners” where it’s difficult to clean” he says. ”The material used for these irrigation trays are all food safe material, that guarantees the grower there will be no contamination from trays in their irrigation water."
Solving airflow issues
Jacob explains that this system is particularly suitable for large-scale operations. ”Where smaller facilities typically use a lot of fans, medical cannabis growers operate in large-scale greenhouses or indoor farms, where the utilization of the growing space is very optimized” he explains. ”In these types of operations, it is of the utmost importance to provide the plants with the same amount of water, and to design a state-of-the-art air circulation system in order to prevent any pest outbreaks. Our new irrigation trays solve problems with airflow, and can be used as a prevention for molds.”
