"A happy cannabis plant grows better"

The company location is secret, because growing cannabis – including for research purposes – involves risks. CannNext delivers the 'fitbit' of plants, said director Eric Uleman to Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. "We're doing this for cannabis at the moment, but we could also do it for cucumber."

The research company has already had sixteen harvests at the cultivation site in Limburg. CannNext is not participating in the Closed Cannabis Chain Experiment. "We took part in the tender, but unfortunately we dropped out in the first phase." According to the director, this is mainly due to temporary financial problems at a Canadian partner as a result of the COVID crisis. Therefore, the government may not have considered CannNext's tender solid enough (completely unjustified, according to Uleman).
