Two new papers for organic propagation launched

A close cooperation with Ellepot US partner Blackmore Company made it possible to develop the new Ellepot papers to follow the USDA guidelines for organic growing.

Brand-new product and technology
As part of their integrated propagation system, Ellepot specializes in developing degradable propagation papers for all types of crops. Their latest offerings, the patented Ellepot Organic 10 Weeks and Ellepot Organic 16 Weeks, are based on Nobel Prize-winning technology and are a testament to the company's commitment to increasing sustainability through innovation.

The two new papers are OMRI listed and made with biodegradable materials using a patented technology that was developed based on the collaboration between Ellepot and Blackmore Company. This product development has been a long time in the making, and after years of research and testing done by and with local US growers, the ideal texture, durability, and performance for these papers were achieved. This is good news for growers of organic crops in the US, and, as a bonus, it allows them to eliminate the use of plastic pots, further decreasing their environmental footprint.

With their ability to biodegrade, Ellepot Organic 10 Weeks and Ellepot Organic 16 Weeks are produced with carefully sourced materials and made to last longer than the groundbreaking and award-winning Ellepot Organic 2.0 paper that was launched in 2021. While the latter has a degradation time of approximately 6-8 weeks, the two new papers last 10 and 16 weeks, respectively, before they start to degrade. To achieve these extra weeks of durability, Ellepot has worked closely together with Blackmore Company to identify and test papers containing a variety of bio-based materials ranging from FSC®-certified wood fibers to plant-based polymers, ultimately settling on a Nobel Prize-winning technology for their new patented paper that meets the world-class standards required by organic growers in the US.

The trials conducted by US growers were also designed to test that the papers perform as expected under real-world growing conditions. This has allowed Ellepot to refine the product and make any necessary adjustments before launching it to the markets of both indoor and outdoor growers.
