Florida medical marijuana sales top $659 million in 2026

Florida's medical marijuana market reached a new monthly record in April, with licensed dispensaries generating $179,708,279 in sales, according to data from the research firm Headset.

April's total is over $10 million more than the $168,587,745 sold in March, and roughly $30 million more than the $148,435,322 in sales generated in February. In January, sales were $162,269,019.

Combined, Florida medical marijuana dispensaries have generated $659,000,365 in total sales through the first four months of 2026. Flower remained the top-selling product category in April, accounting for 45% of all medical marijuana sales. Vapor pens were second at 24%, followed by edibles at 15%. Prerolls and concentrates each made up 6.5% of sales, with all other products combining for the remaining 3%.

Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment legalizing medical marijuana in 2016, expanding on an earlier limited low-THC program. The state's first dispensary opened in Tallahassee in July 2016. Patients may purchase up to 2.5 ounces of smokable marijuana every 35 days and may possess up to 4 ounces at a time, unless granted an exception. Florida does not have a special state excise tax on medical marijuana sales.
