CAN (ON): Company plans to use automation experience to develop intelligent cannabis pods

Minto council passed a zoning amendment at their July 2 meeting to permit a cannabis production facility within the existing Tucker Industries building located at 135 Minto Rd.

Tucker Industries is a custom machine builder with experience in the automotive, medical, mining, food production, postal and material handling industries. Tucker Industries intends to diversify into the legal cannabis cultivation, processing and equipment industry through the formation of Mont Vert (MV) Technologies.

Tucker Industries president Jason Montgomery made a presentation to council to explain plans for the move into cannabis cultivation.

Montgomery told council there has been a significant change to the Health Canada regulations regarding cannabis cultivation. As of May 8, Health Canada will require new applicants for licenses to cultivate, process or sell cannabis for medical purposes to have a fully-built site which meets all the requirements of cannabis regulations at the time of the application.

Some applicants will be grandfathered if they were far enough into the application process when this change was enacted, however, new applications will be required to be fully built.
